Permissions for files

Permissions are assigned to each file and folder in your account. They specify who is permitted to write, read, or execute this file.

Default permissions are assigned once it is created in your cPanel. Most of the time, there is no need to change them, but certain installations or updates could necessitate a change in file or folder permissions.

There are three different types of access:

read: The file can only be read.

write: The file is editable

run: The file can be run as a program.

These access types can be applied to three types of user groups:

owner: The file's owner.

group: Files in the same folder or group.

anyone else in the world

The access levels are also different.
